Greenlife Agribusiness LTD: Innovating Agriculture and Growing Communities in 2024
2024 has been a breakthrough year for Greenlife Agribusiness LTD. We have not only expanded our agricultural footprint by constructing new greenhouses and introducing drip irrigation systems but have also pioneered sustainable soil solutions that address critical challenges facing farmers across East Africa. At the heart of our success is AfyaPeat, a locally produced, eco-friendly cocopeat designed to enhance soil quality, boost water retention, and provide a cost-effective alternative to expensive imported conditioners. By helping farmers reduce production costs and conserve scarce water resources, AfyaPeat stands as a testament to our commitment to innovative, environmentally responsible farming.
Our efforts in sustainable innovation have not gone unnoticed. Earlier in 2024, we proudly won the WFP IGNITE Food Systems Innovation Challenge, where we showcased our initiative to recycle organic waste into eco-friendly fertilizers—further reinforcing our goal of fighting soil degradation through natural, efficient solutions. More recently, we were also honored with the EAC Regional Hackathon award for AfyaPeat’s role in transforming traditional agriculture. These recognitions celebrate our dedication to fostering healthier soils, empowering small-scale farmers, and creating a more sustainable future for communities throughout East Africa.
Below is an overview of our key milestones and achievements from this remarkable year.

1. Building 21 New Greenhouses Across Key Regions
We proudly constructed 21 modern greenhouses in Mogadishu, Afgooye, Jowhar, Baardheere, and Kismaayo. Each greenhouse is designed to optimize environmental conditions, protect crops from harsh climates, and reduce water usage—ensuring consistent yields year-round. This expansion demonstrates our commitment to equipping farmers with the infrastructure needed to increase productivity and quality.

2. Designing a Drip Irrigation System for 15 Hectares
In line with our mission of promoting water-efficient farming, we designed a drip irrigation system covering 15 hectares of farmland. By delivering water directly to crop roots, the system conserves resources and boosts yields—even in water-scarce regions. This innovation forms a key part of our broader strategy to build resilience in local food systems.

3. Conducting Four Agricultural Training Sessions
Empowering farmers remains central to our philosophy. This year, we organized four comprehensive training sessions on modern farming techniques, resource management, and environmental stewardship. These hands-on workshops equipped participants with new skills, best practices, and a collaborative platform to exchange ideas—helping to strengthen agricultural communities for the long term.

4. Planting Over 20,000 Trees for Commercial Use
We took a major step in promoting long-term economic and environmental sustainability by planting more than 20,000 trees for commercial use. Beyond generating revenue streams for local farmers—through fruit, timber, or other byproducts—this initiative also combats soil erosion, enhances carbon sequestration, and fosters biodiversity in the regions we serve.

5. Reaching Over 300 Customers
Through our expanded range of products (including AfyaPeat) and services, Greenlife Agribusiness LTD has now reached over 300 satisfied customers. Our growth underscores the trust clients place in our ability to deliver high-quality agricultural solutions and underscores the meaningful impact we are having on local markets.
6. Celebrating Two Prestigious Awards
This year, our commitment to creating sustainable and affordable agricultural solutions was recognized in two notable ways:
- WFP IGNITE Food Systems Innovation Challenge 2024 – Highlighting our initiative to recycle organic waste into eco-friendly fertilizers.
- EAC Regional Hackathon – Celebrating the innovation and impact of AfyaPeat in addressing soil degradation and environmental sustainability.
These accolades reinforce our position as a leading force in sustainable agribusiness and motivate us to continue innovating for a greener future.
Looking Ahead As we reflect on our achievements in 2024, we remain firmly committed to championing sustainable farming across Somalia and the broader East African region. Our vision includes:
- Expanding AfyaPeat production and refining its benefits for diverse crop requirements.
- Training more farmers on eco-friendly, cost-effective methods to enhance food security and resilience.
- Strengthening partnerships with local communities, NGOs, and international bodies to drive lasting change.
We would like to thank all of our partners, customers, and community members for your unwavering support. Together, we’re transforming agriculture—one greenhouse, one irrigation system, and one eco-friendly innovation at a time.
