ROOBDOON
ROOBDOON - Bridging Heritage and Hope in a Changing Climate.

ROOBDOON Program. “Together, We Seek the Rain.”
ROOBDOON is a climate information and advisory service inspired by Somalia’s cultural practice of praying for rain
during droughts. In this spirit, ROOBDOON provides farmers with timely weather forecasts, seasonal climate outlooks, and practical agricultural advice to help them adapt to climate changes.
The program connects communities, equipping farmers with the knowledge they need to mitigate the impacts of droughts,
floods, and irregular rainfall, ensuring their resilience and sustainability in the face of climate uncertainties. Through collaboration, education, and community engagement, ROOBDOON aims to empower Somali farmers to thrive despite
the challenges posed by climate change.
Objectives:
- Provide accurate and timely climate information to farmers.
- Offer climate-smart farming advice for drought and flood resilience.
- Empower farmers to make informed decisions on crop planting, irrigation, and harvest timing.
- Foster community-based adaptation through collaborative efforts and local knowledge exchange.
- Build long-term climate resilience and sustainable agricultural practices across Somalia.
Our Story:
Rooted in Somalia’s cultural practices, ROOBDOON was born from the recognition that the climate crisis
poses severe challenges for Somali farmers. Just as communities have historically come together to pray for rain, Roobdoon unites farmers, providing them with essential climate data and advisory services. Our story is one of hope,
collaboration, and resilience—helping Somali farmers rise above
climate uncertainties and secure their livelihoods for future generations.
